On a wintry Saturday afternoon in the mid nineties, I took a break from my busy life as a country doctor to attend a Theatre Alberta acting workshop at The Red Brick Arts Centre in Edson. This led to my appearance in several plays over the next seven years with the local theatre group, Pandora Players, who had organized the workshop.

Renovate & Modernize

Earlier this year, the Arts Centre for Edson Society (ACES) announced its new slogan, “Arts & Culture Matter”. Although this slogan speaks clearly about ACES intent to develop a new theatre in Edson, it should be noted that their project will help more than just arts and culture. “This project is about building a community project,” says ACES President Peter Taylor. “This project will renovate and modernize the Rec Complex and bring a new demographic of users.”

On behalf of the Arts Centre for Edson Society, thank you for the support you have provided us over the last six years to develop a new performing arts facility. Regardless of the results of a recent poll, ACES is more than aware that this project is years away from completion. With this in mind, ACES believes not just in our project, but in the fruition of other proposed projects as well. We have always been open to working with other groups and individuals to achieve not only our dream, but also other initiatives that will better the quality of life for our community. This is our home and we do not want people to be divided on this issue, instead we believe these projects can all be completed by working together.
